BULLETIN FROM COUNCIL MEETING 12.3.

The Council meeting was held on March 12, 2024, at TAMK’s main campus in auditorium E1-06. During the meeting, topics such as the length of the strategic period, the appointment of a representative to the membership acquisition working group, and the formation of the working group for the “Portti työelämään 2025” event were discussed.

20§ Announcements

  • The Council’s 2nd orientation + team building on March 20, 2024 at 4:30 PM in room C1-05
  • Date of the Council’s spring meeting is April 8, 2024
  • Activation of the Council’s communication team.
  • Mental Health Week stand on April 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Sustainibility and Responsibility Week stand on March 19-21, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
  • Mediapolis stand on April 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

21§ News from the Council’s Chairpersons

The Council’s Chairpersons has participated in morning briefings, sub-organization training, as well as meetings with the Chairperson’s of the board, alongside the daily operations of the board. The Chairperson of the Council has also attended the “Continuation!” day and the feedback session for mechanical engineering.

22§ News from the Board

In addition to Tamko’s board meetings, morning briefings, team meetings, and other daily operations, the board has been involved in organizing sub-organization training. Tamko’s Chairperson’s held mood discussions for board members, participated in TARINA ry’s board meeting, a popup stand at the Mediapolis campus, and feedback sessions in various fields. The tutoring and international sector has participated in peer and diverse tutor training, the higher education council meeting, the internationalization strategy steering group meeting, and feedback sessions in various fields. The tutoring sector has also prepared for the upcoming Tutor Training Camp, “Kopteri.” The advocacy sector has worked on EA1 training, harassment liaison training, and participated in the popup stand at Mediapolis. The events and well-being and cultural coordinators have organized Tamko’s pimeät sitsit, siipi bingo, hangouts, blood donation point, and have been involved in the development of first aid and security training. The communication sector has participated in, among other things, the Valentine’s Day stand and the popup stand at Mediapolis, as well as planned social media materials. The stakeholder relations officer has met with the school’s vice principal, Katja Komulainen, organized a sub-organization team-building event, and prepared A0 storages for the future.

23§ Changes in the composition of the Council

The member of the Council, Mila Melin, has announced her resignation from the Council, and An Nguyen is no longer eligible for election, so according to the rules, he is considered to have resigned from the Council. The priority order of the list for Business Students was updated and the composition of the Council was confirmed.

24§ Lenght of the strategy period

Tamko’s previous strategy expired in December 2023. Historically, Tamko’s strategic periods have been three years. A new strategy for the years 2024-2026 is currently being developed. The board believes that to maximize the benefits of the new strategy, it would be sensible to extend the strategic period by one year (2024-2027), allowing the strategy to be in effect for a full three years.

The change in the length of the strategic period was confirmed.

25§ Budget

In accordance with the decision made at the autumn meeting of the Council, personnel costs have now been revised and reported. Additionally, the budget has been supplemented with an additional budgetary allocation made in January, regarding the withdrawal from investments.

26§ Member acquisition working group

Discussion took place regarding the willingness of the members of the Council, and Satu Turunen, Eelis Daneman, and Aila-Alisa Aikioniemi were selected as members of the working group.

27§ Gateaway to Working Life 2025 event working group

A member from the representative council will be selected to join the working group for the “Portti työelämään 2025” event. Minja Kero, the coordinator responsible for planning, provided further information about the working group.

Discussion took place regarding the willingness of the members of the representative council, and Satu Turunen, Rosa Lella, and Laura Luga were chosen as members of the working group.

28§ The other emerge things

Registration for the “Tulevaisuusvallattomuus” workshop is open until March 15, 2024. The registration link can be found on the Council’s Teams channel. Meeting announcements are up-to-date for the upcoming Council meeting.
