Students’ Union

What is tamko?

Every University of Applied Sciences has a Students’ Union which monitors students’ rights and interests. The Finnish Students’ Unions are recognized and regulated by the law on Universities of Applied Sciences.

The Students’ Union of Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Tamko) makes sure that the voice of TAMK students is heard not only in TAMK but also in University community and Pirkanmaa area. In addition, Tamko trains all TAMK tutors.

Our student card serves as a sign of Tamko membership. The student card is your key to unlock all the national and local student benefits. Welcome to join, there are already over 6900 of us!

Tamko is a member of the National Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences – SAMOK through which Tamko participates in the national advocacy of UAS students.

council

Council is the supreme decision-making power in Tamko. There are 21 TAMK student representatives from various fields of study in the Council. They’ve been elected through Council elections which are held every year in autumn. All Tamko members are welcome to stand as a candidate in Council elections. Council’s working language is Finnish.

Tamko’s Board holds the executive and administrative power in Tamko. There are 10 members in the Board, and they’re elected by the Council at their first meeting after the Council elections in autumn. All Tamko members are welcome to join the Board. Board’s working language is Finnish.

staff members

Tamko has five employees who support the Board in running the day-to-day operations in the Students’ Union. Each employee has their own area of expertise: executive director, member service expert, educational and social affairs expert, tutoring expert and communications expert. They are responsible for the operation and development of their own area and for supporting Board members in their tasks.
