Tamko’s Tursajaiset gathered 1500 new students to central square

Tamko’s Tursajaiset for new students was organized on Wednesday 7.9.2022. Around 1,500 students gathered in central square to start student life together.

This year, Tursajaiset was intended for new students who started their studies in January and in August.

Tursajais-parade started from TAMK’s main campus and moved towards the central square. Student groups were dressed according to the theme they had chosen. There were i.e. Disney characters, beauty queens, animals, bandits and athletes. The parade was hundreds of meters long and attracted a lot of attention from the passers-by.

At the central square Merja Hanhimäki gave a speech to new students. After the speech, the students swore the traditional Tursas oath and then the Tursajais-parade continued its journey to Rosendahl.

At the Rosendahl beach students toured in groups doing all sorts of tasks organized by student associations, clubs and other collaborators. The daytime event was free event and students were able to group together and start the study time together in a fun way.

Tamko is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year and along its history there has been eighty organized Tursajaiset events. The 2022 Tursajaiset was therefore the 81st of its kind.
