1. New actors for Tamko have been elected

The Students’ Union of Tampere University of Applied Sciences’ Council for 2020 was organized on 25th of November 2019. The Council elected among its members Kia Kauppinen as the chairperson and Ronja Mikkola as the vice-chairperson. Emmi Lainpelto was elected as the chairperson of the Board.

Other Board members are:

  • Jenni Tammenmaa, vice-chairperson
  • Suvi Hänninen, educational affairs
  • Arttu Santamäki, social affairs and sports
  • Aino Partanen, tutoring
  • Anton Kallio, international affairs
  • Emilia Surakka, clubs and affiliates
  • Suvi Välilehto, events
  • Petra Vuorinen, well-being and culture

Congratulations for all and good luck for the upcoming year!

2. Tamko’s Christmas Party 19 December

Tamko’s Christmas party 2019 will be held on Thursday, 19th of December in Bricks. Pikkujoulut (little Christmas in Finnish) is an annual non-formal pre-Christmas party.

Get your ticket from Kideapp.fi (3€/member, 5€/non-member). Sale begins 4.12. With pre-sale ticket you will also get a Tamkos little christmas overall patch. Tamko’s little elves will give a Christmas present to one lucky participant who arrives before midnight with a pre-sale ticket! You can trade your pre-ticket for overall patch at Bricks (NB! limited amount of overall patches). There is no dress code so overalls are acceptable!

4. Portti työelämään – Gateway to Work-life 21 – 23 January 2020

Portti työelämään recruiting event comes again! The event is held at TAMK main campus lobby area on 21 – 23 January 2020 at 10am – 2pm. Welcome to fetch a work, trainee or thesis place!

The event is free for TAMK students and aims to create a low-threshold meeting place for students and representatives of different organizations. Event days are themed according to different fields of study but you should keep an eye on all event days and find the organizations which are the most interesting to you.

There’s a wide range of organizations attending to Portti työelämään and you can find the full listing of them from Portti työelämään website, Facebook event and later from the event catalogue.
Check out the most interesting organizations from the listing and bring your CV with you.

In need of a CV prepping? No worries, you can get your CV checked at TAMK working life services’ CV stand in the event. There’s also an opportunity to have your photo taken by a professional photographer in a CV photo booth.

5. Tolu’s weekly sports shift 3 December

Tolu organizes a 2-hour drop-in sports shift every Tuesday from 5PM – 7PM at TAMK’s sports hall. We’ll play a different sport each week and on next time it’s going to be Futsal!

All TAMK students and staff are welcome to join, and there is no skill requirements. We just want to get you moving. We provide all the gear except for your sports attire and indoor playing shoes. You don’t need a SportUni membership in order to attend, just say to customer service desk that you’re coming to Tolu’s sport shift.

6. All library units closed 14 December – 6 January

The launching of a new library system causes various changes both in the library customer services and in the library’s internal processes. Get ready for changes in library services – Borrow the materials you need now! All of the library’s units are closed, and print-related customer functions online are disabled during the system change 14 December – 6 January 2020.

At the end of the year, the due date for borrowed material is 13.1.2020.​​​​​​​ 4 week loans have already now a due date 13.1.2020, 2 week loans will have the 13.1.2020 due date from Thu 28.11. onwards. NB! the change does not apply to short loans. If you have any questions, please contact the library: kirjasto(at)tuni.fi

7. Tolu’s bowling night 9 December

Tolu’s monthly bowling night is here again! The TAMK students sporting association Tolu is organizing their next bowling night on the 9th of December from 18:00 to 19:00 at Space Bowling and billiards. For 5€ (including shoe rental), you can come bowl for one hour, so get your friends together join us for some leisurely fun. Tickets can be purchased at Tolu’s web-store Holvi. Please arrive by 17:50 so that we can start right at 18:00.

8. Campusravita restaurant’s opening hours during Independence Day

Campusravita restaurant is open normally on 5 December at 7.45am – 5pm. On Thursday (Independence Day), 6 December, the restaurant is closed. We’re open again on Saturday, 7 December at 8.30am – 2pm.

9. December Overall Party – Jingle Beats 12 December

In December Overall Party (Poikkitieteelliset Haalaribileet in Finnish) are feeling Christmassy and Viihdemaailma Ilona will be full of joy and happiness! Now it is time to celebrate, drink some delicious glogg and dance around the Christmas tree like never before!  

Doors open in Ilona at 9pm. Tickets are 3,30€ in advance from Kide.app or 5 € from the door. Advance tickets include passage past the regular queue until 11pm. We wish that cloakroom would only be used for coats, not for backpacks or bags.   

10. SPIME2019

Are you interested in the future of business and IoT ? This 11th and 12th of December, BaseN is hosting their 5th annual IoT conference SPIME2019 at The Finnish Labor Museum Werstas in Tampere. The event will consist of different workshops in the morning and expert presentations in the afternoon. If you want to learn more on how BaseN has become the IoT platform of choice, be sure to secure your place. All students, teachers or professionals, interested are welcome.
