Bulletin regarding changes to employment relationships and their impact at Tamko

Changes to employment relationships took place at Tamko in August of 2026. Tamko has been operating at a deficit for the past five (5) fiscal years. Tamko’s memberships have declined, but at the same time, operating costs have risen due to factors such as inflation. In order to comply with the financial guidelines and governing documents of the Tamko’s representative Council, Tamko’s Board has decided to make changes to the organizational structure. This was a necessary step considering the updated financial review to ensure that the budget for the 2026 fiscal year is achieveable and that operational capacity for future years is secured.

Tamko has decided to eliminate the position of Member Services Expert as part of a reorganization of operations and resources based on financial and operational considerations. The employment contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

The leave of absence for the Advocacy Expert has been extended until December 31, 2026. The employment contract of the substitute advocacy specialist has been terminated by mutual agreement, as the individual will be moving to a permanent position elsewhere on September 13, 2026. At their meeting, Tamko’s Board decided not to recruit a substitute for the duration of the leave of absence.

How will changes in employment relationships affect Tamko’s operations?

There will be changes to the opening hours of Tamko’s member services desk:

The new member services hours are as follows:
Mon–Thu 10.00–13.00
Fri 10.00–12.00

During these hours, you can come by as usual to pick up your student card, renew your academic year sticker, reserve the sauna facilities, and receive guidance and advice. Outside of member service hours, you can contact us by email at office@tamko.fi.

When member services are not available at the desk, you’re welcome to use Solu for studying, spending time, or enjoying a cup of tea or coffee. Tamko members can access Solu with their physical student card during self-service hours on weekdays until 16.00.
