Changes in the Composition of the Representative Council

Regular member of the Representative Council, Maria Koskelo, was granted a release from her duties. The first deputy member from the Engineers’ list, Topias Ahola, took her place.


Gateway to Working life 2026 Event Report and Much More

Fair Coordinator Annika Keskinen and Communications Specialist Petra Toivonen presented an event report on the Gateway to Workinf life 2026 recruitment event, which was held at TAMK’s main campus on January 19–21, 2026. A total of 78 companies participated in the event. Of the students who attended and responded to the feedback survey, 46% reported gaining new contacts or employment opportunities through the event.

In addition to the Gateway to Working Life event, Tamko’s Board was kept busy with orientation days and the Talvitursajaiset event for new students who started in January, as well as training sessions organized for sub-associations.

Tamko’s Advocacy Team reported on their meeting with representatives of TAMK. According to the advocacy representatives, the discussion with TAMK included the discontinuation of the maturity test.

At SAMOK’s (National Union of University Students in Finland) Lähtölaukaus event, participants familiarized themselves with student union activities and networked with other student unions. In addition, at the end of January, Tamko visited the Suinula memorial together with TIRO to commemorate the students who passed away in Suinula in 1918.


Announcements

The Representative Council discussed an invitation to the Vastarinta 2026 demonstration opposing Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s government. Tamko is a politically non-aligned student union representing all students of TAMK. However, Tamko cannot ignore issues related to students’ livelihoods, which are decided by the Finnish Government. The members of the Representative Council decided in the meeting that Tamko will participate in the event by sharing information about the demonstration.

The meeting also decided to establish Communications and Events Teams for the Representative Council. Communications will be handled by Vice Chair Elsa Osipova and members Tilda Ilveskoski, Aino Leinonen and Pyry Kaikuvuo. The members of the Events Team are Elsa Osipova, Janette Kangasniemi, Tilda Ilveskoski, Aino Leinonen and Emma Tervonen.


Representative Council Incentive Reward Model 2026

It was decided to update the Representative Council’s incentive reward model. In the future, at least the three most active members of the Council will be rewarded for their activity.

The meeting also discussed upcoming matters. In the near future. These include the renewal of the political program, Museum Appro event, Wing Bingo event, National Recycling Day, and a digital Tursas Pass.
