There are many benefits to being a member of the student union, but the most visible one is the student card. Tamko offers its members a student card, which is key to thousands of student discounts across Finland! In addition, you will benefit from the student union’s own services and events.
After joining Tamko, you will get plastic student card and you will also have access to mobile student cards via Tuudo and Slice. The mobile student cards will be activated once your study right period have started. You can activate Slice with separate credentials, which you will receive by email after joining Tamko.
All students at Tampere University of Applied Sciences can become a member of Tamko. Welcome to the community – there are already over 6,900 of us!
STUDENT CARD options
Tamko has two different membership cards (UAS student card and Tamko member card), so please familiarize yourself with the card issuance conditions below before submitting your membership application! When you join as a member, the correct card will automatically be ordered based on the information you provide.
UAS STUDENT CARD
With the UAS student card, you get Tamko’s own benefits, Opiskelijan Tampere discounts, as well as Kela’s meal subsidy, and discounts from VR (train tickets) and Matkahuolto (bus services).
The terms of AMK student card
- You are studying a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or you are exchange student
- You’ve registered yourself as a present student in TAMK for the upcoming term or academic year
- You become a member and pay the membership fee to Tamko
TAMKO MEMBER CARD
With the Tamko member card, you get Tamko’s own benefits and Opiskelijan Tampere discounts, but you are not eligible for national benefits such as Kela’s meal subsidy or discounts from VR (train tickets) and Matkahuolto (bus services).
The terms of Tamko membership card
- You’re studying for example in Vocational Teacher education, open UAS studies or you are part of education export group and you don’t meet the requirements for receiving the UAS student card.
- You’ve registered yourself as a present student in TAMK for the upcoming term or academic year
- You become a member and pay the membership fee to Tamko
+Mobile student card
You can also activate the UAS student card as a mobile card alongside the physical card if you have paid the Tamko membership fee and you have registered as a present student at TAMK. Tamko’s free mobile student cards can be used in Tuudo and Slice, and with them you get all the same benefits as with the physical card!
TUUDO
Tuudo is a free app designed to make students’ daily life easier. In addition to Tamko’s student card and student discounts, Tuudo offers things like class schedules, study credits, classroom reservations, cafeteria menus, course registrations and your calendar – pretty handy!
The green Tamko member card is not available in Tuudo.

SLICE
Slice is Finland’s largest student benefit service, and Tamko members get access to thousands of student discounts across different locations in Finland, discount coupons, and mobile student cards. Tamko’s student card and green member card are both available in Slice!

Instructions to filling out the membership application
- You’ll need a passport type of photo of yourself in jpg form (size minimum 450×600 pixels, file size max. 1MB). The photo doesn’t need to be an official passport photo, it can also be a full-face selfie with good lighting.
- You’ll also need information about your study place so that you can answer to the questions.
- Payment can be made with most common credit cards and internet bank service’s
- The student card will arrive to our office approx. 1-4 weeks after you’ve sent the application. We will send a message to your TUNI-email address (TAMK student email address) when the card has arrived to our office.

New member prices include 10 € processing charge for the plastic student card.

If you can not pay the membership through the online service or at Tamko’s office via cash or card, please contact us at office@tamko.fi to receive instructions for the bank transfer.
Student card stickers
The student card has a sticker which shows that the student card is valid. New members will get their sticker when they get their card from Tamko’s office for the first time.
01/2025 (term sticker) pink sticker is valid 1.8.2024-31.1.2025
09/2025 (academic year) yellow sticker is valid 1.8.2024-30.9.2025
MAILING OF YOUR student card
Usually new student cards are to be picked up from Tamko’s office. If you live outside of Tampere you can buy mailing to your student card through Kide.app for the price of 2,80 €. We only mail cards to Finland.
A good tip while waiting for the plastic student card to arrive by mail is to start using the mobile student card!
Tamko members can use the mobile student card for free through the Tuudo and Slice mobile apps. You’ll get access to all the student benefits that you would with the physical student card. Tuudo and Slice automatically stay up to date according to your paid membership!
Tamko’s membership terms and conditions
NOTE! New member’s membership period starts immediately after joining Student Union. By joining the Student Union, ordering a student card, or extending membership in the union, the student confirms that they have read and accepted terms and conditions of granting the student card and agreed to follow them. In addition, the student accepts that their personal information, contact information, right to study and member eligibility are verified from the student and study registers of Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The student agrees to their membership information being transferred from the register of Tamko to TAMK’s database and onwards to the databases of Finnish National Agency for Education such as Virta and Koski databases.
