3. Student meal prices have increased

The prices of student meals have changed in Finland since the beginning of the year.

The change in prices is due to the fact that the student meal subsidy was increased and at the same time the price of the student meal also increased. The new amount of the meal subsidy is 2,80€, the maximum price for a standard student meal at the basic rate will be €5.90. As a result, meal prices will rise from the familiar 2,95€ to 3,10€. Both were increased due to higher costs.

Up-to-date lunch prices are available on student lunch restaurants’ websites and on menu boards.

A new regulation on meal subsidies was issued on 11 December 2025 and has entered into force on 1 January 2026. National Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences SAMOK, which member Tamko is, opposed the regulation.

A student meal at Campusravita costs €3.00 with the Tamko member discount.

4. Student exchanges for autumn 2026, apply by 26th January!

The application period for student exchanges is 12.–26.1.2026. There are exchange places available in around 200 partner universities all-around Europe and in some destinations outside Europe.

There are grant opportunities in both Europe and the rest of the world that anyone leaving for exchange can apply for. Exchange studies are accepted as part of your degree, so the exchange does not extend the duration of your studies. Exchange studies are a great opportunity to get to know the new country and culture deeper, make international friends and gain new perspectives on your studies!

Do you want to hear more about the possibilities or ask questions about student exchanges? Participate in your degree programme’s exchange info and come to meet us at the application information sessions held during the application period:

5. TAMK’s Career week

How do you start your career when there’s no ready-made path?

Career Week 2026 (13.-15.1.2026) invites students to boldly and consciously build their own career path. This event doesn’t give you ready-made answers – it creates space for you to identify your strengths, articulate your skills, and develop the abilities that working life truly demands.

This year, we dive into career stories from the arts and cultural sectors because they teach us universal work-life skills:

  • Creativity and problem-solving
  • Confidence in presenting and communication
  • Personal branding and the courage to be visible
  • Collaboration and people skills

– skills that benefit professionals in every field.

Career Week 2026 is more than an event. It’s a three-day experience that prepares you for the Gateway to Working Life week and gives you abilities you won’t learn in lectures.

7. SoTaKone-kyykkä

A new year and new tricks mean for some perfectly reasonable promises made on New Year’s Eve, and for others it means not remembering whether they promised anything to anyone, if at all.

Fortunately, however, there is SoTaKone, who remembered this year too that mölkky is a summer sport and academic kyykkä focuses on the winter season and that it needs players.

So come join the kyykkä tournament organized by SoTaKone and show others how karting flies!

If kyykkä is not a familiar sport, you can familiarize yourself with the rules of the game -> kyykka.fi/saannot
