1. Exceptions to Solu opening hours in May

There will be some exceptions to the opening hours of Tamko’s office Solu during May.

Our office will be closed on the following days:
Fri 23.5.
Thu 29.5.Ascension Day
Fri 30.5.

At all other times, we’ll be open normally.

2. Tamko’s summer

OPENING HOURS

Reduced opening hours 2.-13.6.

We are open with reduced opening hours from Monday to Friday at 10-14.

Our office is closed 16.6.-1.8.
If you have urgent questions during this period, please contact us by email at office@tamko.fi.
Please note that due to summer holidays, there may be delays in responses.

Our office reopens again on 4.8.

STUDENT CARD AND ACADEMIC YEAR STICKER PICK UP
You can pick up the new academic year sticker and your student card from the office starting 4.8.
Please note that we cannot hand over the student card or sticker before your attendance status is active and your study right period has started.

The current sticker (9/2025) expires at the end of September, so there’s no rush to change it immediately after the summer break.
Also remember that if you are a continuing member, your mobile student cards in Tuudo and Slice will remain valid even if you haven’t changed the sticker on your physical card.

MAILING
We will also start mailing student cards and stickers at the beginning of August. If your Tamko membership has been paid in advance and your study right and attendance status are valid, we can mail the card or sticker to you. Please note that we only mail products outside of Tampere, but not abroad.

3. Council Meeting on 21 of May

Stay up to date with the matters of your Students’ Union and attend the Council meeting!

4. Student representatives’ application to TAMK’s Advisory Boards 

TAMK’s Advisory Boards are an important part of the cooperation between TAMK and working life. They support work-life orientation in education, continuous learning, and research and development activities. 
 
In the Advisory Board, you can influence the development of your education together with the stakeholders in working life. There are two to four meetings a year, so the task doesn’t take much time but it offers even more opportunities and experiences! Tamko support student representatives with the activities of advisory boards. 
 
The terms of office are two years and the current term of office will last until the end of 2026. The aim is to fill the student representative positions as soon as possible, so apply immediately.

5. First-ever Tampere Torisits!

The First-ever Tampere Torisits will take place on 14.6.2025! We welcome you to experience an unforgettable summer night at Tampere Torisits at Keskustori Central Square, where the singing is thunderous and sitsing folk fill the town square!

Torisits will bring visibility to the lively student culture at the Keskustori Central Square of Tampere. Students from all campuses of Tampere University and TAMK gather together in a multidisciplinary spirit – everyone is welcome: teekkarit, humanists, applied sciences students, freshers, year N students and alumni. We cheerily invite all personnel from the Tampere Universities community to take part in the sits, as well! The first open space Torisits of Tampere are unparalleled experience where you get to celebrate the higher education students’ community!

Sits are an academic celebration that includes a three-course dinner, speeches, greetings, songs and student atmosphere. To locals and travellers, Torisits will present living student culture at its best. As the sits are taking place at a prime location, the Keskustori Central Square in an open space, they are a spectacle which anyone can view from the sidelines and even sing-along to familiar sits songs.What: Torisits

6. Kela announcement

Important announcement for students!
Your housing benefits will change in autumn 2025!

-You can get the new student housing supplement from the beginning of the autumn term 2025.
– You can apply for the housing supplement in OmaKela starting in June. 
– General housing allowance will no longer be paid to students after 31 July 2025.

7. FSHS summer opening hours

FSHS serves students in higher education institutions throughout the summer. The service offering for the summer is adapted to the lower demand during the summer period.

The assessment of the need for treatment and our digital services will serve you on weekdays according to normal opening hours.

  • SelfChat will be open on weekdays from Monday to Friday 9 am–11 am.
  • The service line for hearing-impaired customers on SelfChat will serve according to its opening hours.
  • The nationwide telephone services will be available Mon–Thurs from 8 am to 3 pm and Fri from 8 am to 2 pm.
  • The service units in Tulli and Hervanta in Tampere will be open on weekdays throughout the summer.

8. New SportUni Hippos will open in August

Good things are worth the wait. SportUni is expanding and will open a new gym at Hippos in August 2025.

SportUni Hippos will open at the end of August in the basement of the middle building of TOAS’s student housing complex at Hippos. The gym will be equipped with high-quality warm-up machines and plate-loaded strength machines, covering a total area of 425 square metres. The space will include three weightlifting platforms and a large rack with four lifting stations. 

There will be no customer service point at SportUni Hippos; instead, customers will be served by the SportUni Kauppi customer service desk. After paying the sports fee, entry to the gym will be via a virtual access card, which will be introduced already in May at the University of Tampere’s city centre campus in Atalpa and at SportUni Keskusta. 

SportUni Hippos will be open daily from 05:00 to 23:00. 

If you’re keen to get active already, SportUni’s sports centres in Hervanta, Kauppi, and City Centre are open all summer and will continue operating normally during the autumn term.
