How can Tamko offer an internship position after the recent change negotiations?
Tamko’s financial situation has been running at a deficit for the past five years, which is why we had to make difficult decisions this autumn. At the same time, we wanted to do our part in helping students facing a challenging internship market by offering at least one internship opportunity. Opening this trainee position is also a response to feedback from students who have expressed a wish for Tamko to provide more internships.
Even when employer-related payroll costs are included, the total cost of employing an intern is significantly lower than that of a full-time employee. In addition, this is a temporary, event-specific position with a workload of 0-15 hours per week over a period of three months.
The Gateway event is also a financially significant event for Tamko, so we want to invest in making it successful. At the same time, we can provide a student with valuable hands-on work experience, an opportunity to learn more about Tamko’s operations, and a chance to make a positive impact on the student community and student life.
Has Tamko offered internship positions before?
Yes! Tamko has offered internship positions in previous years as well.
Will Tamko offer more internship positions in the future?
We would very much like to continue supporting students in graduating on time by offering internship opportunities in the future. At the same time, we want to ensure that the internships we provide are meaningful, well-structured, and genuinely beneficial learning experiences for the trainees themselves.
At the moment, we cannot make any promises about future internship positions, but we are exploring our possibilities to offer them again. We’ll see what the future brings!
