All students of TAMK are welcome to join The Students' Union. Membership provides dozens of benefits, and therefore Tamko has over 7 000 members. Members of Tamko receive a national student ID-card which entitles to a number of discounts.

Every member of Tamko also has one vote and the possibility to become a candidate in the elections of the council of representatives (edustajisto) that acts as the highest authority.

The council elects the board (hallitus) that is responsible for the activities of Tamko together with the staff.
