3. Council elections are coming up!
What on earth is the Council?
The Council consists of 21 regular elected students who make decisions on the major policies of the Student Union and oversee the activities of the Board. The Council is diverse and full of varying opinions, as anyone can run as a candidate in the Council elections. Being in the Council is a low-threshold activity where you get to discuss and make decisions in a supportive group.
What Council elections?
The 21 members who will decide on the matters of our Students’ Union in 2025 are elected in the Council elections. Any Tamko member (students who have paid the student union membership fee and registered as present) can run as a candidate.
Tamko members have the right to vote in the elections. The voting is fully electric and will take place through a voting link sent to your TUNI email.
Before the elections, the Council will have info stands where you can come and ask more about the council, or just chat about how things are going at school!
Important dates
- The candidate nomination (means applying to run as a candidate) begins on September 3, 2024, at 9:00 AM and ends on October 1, 2024, at 12:00 PM.
- The voting period is October 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM to November 6, 2024, at 3:00 PM.

The draft of the election programme can be commented on until 1 September 2024. Tell us what you think of our local advocacy goals!

- Visit the Self online service and start using Self right at the start of your studies! In Self you can update your contact information, manage health-related matters easily with service forms, use chat services and manage your appointments.
- During the first semester, you will receive an invitation to the HealthStart questionnaire. After completing the health questionnaire you’ll receive an assessment on the state of your health, and you may be referred to our services if necessary.
- Remember to pay the health care fee for students in higher education to Kela on your own initiative. All FSHS services are included to the health care fee and separate fees are not charged for appointments. Check the up-to-date instructions on Kela´s website.
