1. Tamko Council Elections 2019

Tampere University of Applied Sciences’ Council Elections are held on 23 October – 6 November 2019. 21 members are elected to the council. All students who have paid Tamko membership payment and registered themselves as an attending (present) to TAMK are eligible to vote in council elections. Electronic voting starts on 23rd of October and ends 6th November. Ballot box voting is held on 6th November.

All who are eligible to vote can also stand as a candidate. (Please notice that all council meetings are held in Finnish). One can stand as a candidate on 18th September – 9th October 2019. In order to become a candidate, you need to fill out an electronic candidate notification via Tamko’s website or a paper form at Tamko’s office. You’ll also need to sign up for a candidate list provided by your student association or some other list provider.

Council elections are held as a proportional open list voting where a voter is also voting for a candidate’s list. The Council’s assembly is determined by popularity of lists. If you cannot find a suitable list, you can also establish your own!

The Council (edustajisto in Finnish), also known as edari, is like Tamko’s parliament. It holds the highest decision making power and has the final say about matters that concern The Students’ Union of Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The Council also decides for example about Tamko’s budget, financial statements, political guidelines and chooses students to Tamko’s Board and TAMK’s organs. Whether you are interested in influencing or improving students’ study experience, the Council might be your thing.
