1. Enroll for International Tutoring 4.3. - 27.3.2019

Next autumn there will be a lot of new exchange students coming to TAMK. Would you like to be here welcoming them? Now it's time to register for the international tutor trainings and be a part of Tamko's big happy tutoring family. International tutors are helping our incoming exchange students. They take care that exchange students adapt to TAMK and Finnish student life. International tutoring will give you a bunch of nice experiences and improve your language skills.

Student's Union Tamko will train new international tutors on Wednesday 10th of April and Tuesday 16th of April. There will be coffee and sandwiches served in the trainings. International tutoring also adds up your ECTS credits. When the course is done, you'll also get an extra point when applying to exchange studies. You'll also get a mark to your Tursaspassi Passport when enrolling for the trainings.

You can register here.

2. Blood donation at TAMK 26 March

It is time to reach out your helping hand again when Finnish Red Cross's Blood Service comes to TAMK. Come to the Main Campus' B lobby on Tuesday, 26th March at 11:00 - 15:00.

The event is accessible as you can get there by using the elevator.

You can check your suitability as a donor from here. Please remember to take your ID with you as your student card is not sufficient enough. Note that you will also need a Finnish social security number in order to donate. More info from Tamko.

3. Have a look at the new intranet!

The Tampere Universities community’s new intranet is published. At the beginning, the new intranet mostly contains functions for the staff but it will gradually be used more and more by students, too.  Students continue using TAMK’s present-day intranet in the spring and start using the new intranet in August 2019 at the latest.

Two parts of the new intranet are published for students right from the beginning: handbooks and people search. The handbooks include for example IT guidelines for students.  The present-day intranet has links to the new intranet in these cases.

The PAKKI desktop also remains in student use. New intranet: intra.tuni.fi

4. Tolu's regular sport shift 19 March

Tolu is a students' sports club here at TAMK. We're arranging a regular sports shift for students and staff members every Tuesday at 17:00 - 19:00 in Main Campus' SportUni sports hall. On Tuesday, 12 March w're playing basketball! You don't need a SportUni membership in order to take part in Tolu's sports shift, everyone can join. Welcome!

5. Explore the international side of life – join CLINT!

As certainly as spring is slowly approaching, Club International Tampere, or CLINT amongst friends, is starting their recruitment.

Whether you’re an international degree student, a Finn with and international mindset, or basically anyone with good humour, interest for the outside world, and some skill with human interaction, we would LOVE to meet you!

We’re a club specialised in providing activities and networking opportunities to people just like you – internationally-minded students. And taking care of our amazing exchange students on the side, of course. So, if you’d like to get some experience in voluntary work in a club while meeting, and working with, some pretty cool people, we believe we might just be what you’re looking for.

Oh, and don’t worry too much about prior experience, we have several different roles available and all you need to bring with you is a will to learn. The recruitment opens on Thursday, 21 March, so keep a close eye on this space or follow Club International Tampere on Facebook. What do you say, are you ready to explore the international side of life?

6. Campusravita's Vegan pop up days 19 - 21 March

Campusravita restaurant is organizing Vegan pop up days from Tuesday to Thursday at 10:30 - 13:00. The lunch is served at Puoli Q (half Q) which is situated on the other side of B-lines' lunch room. Each day of the Vegan pop up is themed differently: Vegan burger feast on Tuesday, eastern Meze flavors on Wednesday and vegan pizza on Thursday. Vegan pop up lunches are priced same way as the normal lunches. Vegan pop up foods available only at Puoli Q. Welcome to gourmandize!

7. Participate and have your say: ECAR 2019

In order to get more information about what our students expect from digitalization, TAMK is participating in the global ECAR Survey. Information collected through this survey will provide us with a picture of development needs of the university’s future learning environments and tools.

Information collected via this survey will contribute to the creating of the learning environments and student IT-services. It also provides us the possibility to compare universities on a national and a global level. Survey link.

Data collection period: 11.-31.3.2019. Web-based survey is anonymous and in English. Answering will take approx. 10-15 minutes to complete. Be sure to participate and have your say! Should you have any questions, please contact: sanna.sintonen(at)tuni.fi. More information about the ECAR survey.

8. Bus ride to Engineer Student Days

9. Summer school programs in Asia - Study and travel in summer 2019

Studying abroad is once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it's something that can positively impact both your personal and professional future. Many students who have studied abroad report afterwards that it was one of the best experiences in their whole life.

By joining an international summer school program, you get to experience a new country, learn the basics of a new language, gain friends from all over the world and take some interesting courses at the same time, all within just a month. You can gain up to 10-12 ECTS in total, and you don't have to spend a fortune. You can also book accommodation through Asia Exchange so you don't have to worry about finding accommodation for the duration of the month.

You can now apply for our summer school programs in Bali, Indonesia or Seoul, South Korea. The one-month-long summer school programs introduce you to the local language and culture while giving you the opportunity to learn about many other interesting topics as well. The last day to apply is 31st of May.

If you'd like to know more,  join our online summer school webinar on the 20th of March at 10am (UTC +1, CET)! You can contact us at info(at)asiaexchange.org anytime if you have any question.
