The council is the place for making a difference. As a member of the council you are in the position of making decisions regarding the students’ union activities and finances. You are also included in the selection of the board of Tamko and the essential student representatives such as the member of the board of TAMK and committee of students’ financial aid. In order to achieve equality among different degree programs it is important there are representatives in the council from all campuses and educational sectors. Taking part in the council doesn’t take much time as the council holds a meeting once in 1 -2 months, but it gives a lot of experience and opportunities.
List voting system is a relative way of election in which people with same cause can form a list of candidates. A voter votes for the candidate and at the same time the list the candidate represents. The composition of the council will be formed via the popularity of the lists. All the candidates of the list must be named before establishing the list.
A list consists of 12 representatives. In this case, the person with the most votes of the list will receive all the votes of the list as his comparative index. The person with the second most votes will receive half of the lists votes as his comparative index, the person with third most votes the one third of the votes and so on. When the lists and candidates are compared by their comparative indexes, the first 21 will be elected to the council.
NB! Please note that the council's working language is Finnish.
