1. Vote in Council elections! – Electronic voting starts on 23 October

Tamko Council elections’ electronic voting will be carried out 23rd of October, starting at 10am and ending on 6th of November at 3pm. Council elections’ ballot box voting will be carried out on 6th of November at 9am – 3pm. All Tamko members who have paid the membership payment and registered as an attending student for the study year, are eligible to vote in the Council elections.

Voting ID and the link for the electronic voting system will be send to members’ formal TUNI email addresses and in some exceptions to some other email address which the member has informed to Tamko member register. Members who have joined to Tamko during the electronic voting period will receive the voting ID and link right away to their email.

A total of 67 candidates are standing as a candidate in the Council elections on 7 different lists: Insinööri, Yhden tähden, SoTen Valitut Palat, Palvelun ammattilaiset, Kokoomus, Soittomediapolista and Tradenomit. More information about the Council elections, lists and the candidates can be found from Tamko’s website.

Council elections will be held as an proportional representation of a list. The voter thus votes not only the candidate but also the list. The composition of the selected Council depends on the popularity of the lists.

2. Enroll now for international and degree tutoring!

Enrollment for international and degree tutoring is now on! You can enroll for international tutoring by 3 November and for Degree tutoring by 17 November.

International tutors are helping out new exchange students of TAMK. International tutoring is a great way to network and get new friends from around the world. You’ll get an extra point from international tutoring if you’re going to study abroad as an exchange student yourself. International tutor trainings will be held on 20 November and 28 November at 5pm at auditorium G00-10. Coffee and sandwiches will be served in the trainings!

Degree tutors are helping out new degree students of TAMK. They are playing an important part in integrating new students to Tampere and Finland. Degree tutors will gain new friendships and study credits: sounds like a great deal, huh? The training aims to train foreign students to work as degree tutors with their Finnish peer tutor colleagues.

3. Tamko office pop ups at Mediapolis 22 October and Proakatemia 29 October

Tamko organizes Tamko office pop ups at Mediapolis on 22 October and 19 November and Proakatemia on 29 October and 26 November. Pop up is open from 9AM – 1PM.

We’ll bring with us the study year stickers, overall patches and event tickets. If you want that we bring your student card to the pop up, please inform us about the matter well before (at least 2 days before!) via email: office(at)tamko.fi. Welcome to chat, have some coffee or tea and of course to rest on Solu’s sofas!

4. Wellness week 28 October – 1 November

Welcome to Tamko and TREY’s Wellness week on 28 October – 1 November! Wellness week offers a wide range of well-being events on TAMK and Tampere University campuses’. Check out the events list from Facebook event.

Monday 28 October, Pumpkin Party at Tamko’s office sauna facilities at 9am – 4pm  

Welcome to get ready for Halloween with fun pumpkin carving competition! We’ll also make some tasty treats from the pumpkins. The event is free of charge.

Monday 28, October Student association Tarina’s Nap Room at Mediapolis campus at 9am – 3pm

Media students’ student association Tarina is having a Nap Room at Mediapolis campus, welcome to have a nap during the long school day!

Tuesday 29 October, Wellness fair at TAMK main campus

TAMK campus lobby area fills up with wellness themed organizations and associations which will provide information on how to take care of your wellbeing during the studies, after graduation and in work life.

Wednesday 30 October, Student association SOPU goes to sauna and swimming at 5pm

Student association SOPU is organizing an awesome sauna and swimming trip to Rauhaniemi where you can enjoy the warmth of public sauna and refreshing swim at lake Näsijärvi! Rauhaniemi has men’s and women’s dressing rooms but the two sauna facilities are meant for both genders and therefore one must use a swimsuit. There’s also a grill where you can grill your own food. Entrance fee to the sauna is 7€.

Wednesday 30 October, Formula team’s puzzle at 10am – 2pm

Welcome to test your wits at Formula student team’s puzzle at F-building!

Wednesday 30 October, Student association Tarina’s Football evening at 5pm

Welcome to play football at Ikuri grass field at 5pm. NB! If the weather is poor, we’ll play board games at Mediapolis campus!

Friday 1 November, Student association Tarina’s snack day at Mediapolis campus

Tarina is offering healthy snacks to ease your school day at Mediapolis campus’ 2nd floor.

5. Tolu’s weekly sports shift 22 October

Tolu organizes a 2-hour drop-in sports shift every Tuesday from 5PM – 7PM at TAMK’s sports hall. We’ll play a different sport each week and on next time it’s going to be ultimate!

All TAMK students and staff are welcome to join, and there is no skill requirements. We just want to get you moving. We provide all the gear except for your sports attire and indoor playing shoes. You don’t need a SportUni membership in order to attend, just say to customer service desk that you’re coming to Tolu’s sport shift.

6. PISTOT party: Scary Movies 31 October

It’s the time of the year again when the ghosts and the monsters come out to play. So come and join them on the 31st of October in Social Club starting at 9.30. At PISTOT Scary Movies you might run into Chuky, Pennyvise or the good old Hannibal Lecter but don’t worry, the drinks at the party will make even these fellows have a jolly time.

Pre-sale tickets are available at Tamko’s office, Kuntokatu 3 stands on 23 – 24 October and Kide.app. Tickets from the door are 5€. PISTOT is organized by TAMK’s student associations TTO ry, TIRO ry and PIRATE ry. More info in Facebook event.

7. Tolu bowling night 28 October

Tolu’s monthly bowling night is here again! The TAMK students sporting association Tolu is organizing their next bowling night on the 28th of October from 18:00 to 19:00 at Space Bowling and billiards. For 5€ (including shoe rental), you can come bowl for one hour, so get your friends together join us for some leisurely fun. Tickets can be purchased at Tolu’s web-store Holvi. Please arrive by 17:50 so that we can start right at 18:00.

 

8. Learning Lab development projects in multidisciplinary teams

Learning Lab is offering a chance to develop your skills in multidisciplinary teams. New development projects (3 – 5 credits) are starting on 28th October at 3pm – 5.15pm. with a common kick-off event at TAMK main campus B3-08 space.

Projects:
1. Event Management – Let’s plan and carry out a great event!
– Pop-up event for immigrants: Mateas
– Sustainability: Waste reduction event
2. Communication: What’s going on? – Social media, pictures and blogs.
3. Circular economy: What? – What does CE mean in practice. From strategy to action.
4. Video production: Stories behind the choices – Food from a farm to consumers.

Final presentations on Monday 16 December 3pm – 5.15pm. at B3-08 (Kuntokatu 3, TAMK). In addition, every team agrees their meeting times for each week. Project will take about 10-15 hours per week. But it will be fun!

9.  Sport weeks 27 September – 24 October

This fall, for the first time ever, there will be sports activities for every Tampere Universities’ student in October! We at the board of Mahti have been working hard over the summer to announce the first-ever Sport Weeks at amazingly low student prices!

During this week:

Registration for the sport weeks events, and the trail running sports try out has opened in the Mahti online store, at akateeminenmahti.fi Remember to follow the sports own Facebook events, to get updated information about free places etc.!
